This 'n' that

Eldest back to school after being off sick and even missing skiing on sat WOOHOO!!!  Went to wake youngest for school, wasn't well so now off sick BOOHOO!!!  Never mind the day did get better :o)  Social worker came round in afternoon and was really nice and was helpful!!!  She's coming back on thurs morning as after an hour & half we still hadn't discussed everything LOL.  She did explain why social work are involved with future needs review.  Good as i had no idea what it involved except for what the title said.  I now know that social work are involved in the process to decide wether or not once reaching 16-18 and adult services wether said child is going to be classed disabled.  Now eldest is extremely highly intelligent, very capable academically but socially, well there's a ways to go yet.  School have been saying uni material ever since beginning of 2nd year (think that year 9 in england not sure).  Maybe so academically but socially and being independent erm NOPES.  Social worker said she would be looking to class him disabled as he will still need support after leaving school.  Eldest is happy and accepting of this <phew> He does come across to anyone who doesn't know him as relatively *normal* (hate the word normal).  It's all the little things like shopping for food, washing clothes/dishes, cooking, ironing, cleaning where he lives, taking care of finance, paying bills etc etc etc etc that worry me.  All the essential life skills we all need to be independent.  Social worker said she was looking at how he could be supported if he left home to go to uni ie: supported accomodation.  IF he goes to uni it will be in city where we live though.  One of the uni's here has excellent reputation for engineering which is where his interests lie.  In saying that i would still like him to become as independent as possible even whilst living at home.  I am not going to be around forever and need to know he will be in a position to look after himself even if it's supported.  As review was postponed am gonna go to admin of that uni and ask for all information they have on supporting students with aspergers.  I know he's only just turned 15 but have always found in past need to start preparing at least 2 years in advance for next stage on in life.  Monday night so weightwatchers and i got my sticky 7.  Well happy and chuffed to bits.  Oh how daft for a grown woman with 3 teenagers to get deliriously happy about a shiny no 7 to stick on front of a bit of card LOL.  This half stone has taken ages to lose and am gonna buckle down and make sure next one doesn't take long.  Anyways tis late so toodle pip for now xx
