Eldest Review

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!...Am so angry...Went to the Future Needs Review for eldest lad this morning...I managed to speak to social worker before we went in and warned her i would be probably be having a 'go' at head of the base...I told her how fed up i am about this issue this woman has with his hair...Also said she's now demanding he takes a brush into the base to leave there...She was shocked...Anyway we went in and social worker introduced herself to everyone and vice versa...Then head of base handed out her report and talked through it...All the academic side is going well :o) which i already knew from parents night...Then she got to a paragraph which was all about his hair and clothing...She got as far as the first sentence and i interrupted her...

Me: Don't even go there or start about his please

Head of base: Cathy it's matted

Me: No it is NOT, he brushes his hair every morning before school and it is CUT to look like it does. It is called FASHION.

Head of base: Tried to mumble something

Me: If you take a brush to his hair or make derogatory comments on it anymore to him i WILL REPORT you to higher authority

Headmaster: Right we'll move on and get back to this later

Needless to say we did not get back to this issue later...Head of base was shocked when i said i would report her...I mean it though i am not having this woman put my son down...It's called BULLYING...Bit below is what is written in the report...

An ongoing problem for Eldest is his appearance.  He often comes to school with very tousled looking hair which can make him a target for teasing and comments.  In secondary school especially, teenagers are particularly aware of how they look and can be quite unkind if someone looks different/odd. It hampers his socialisation because appearance is so important. Sometimes it seems that he can be EXTREMELY conscious of his appearance. An example was when he refused to go into classthe day he came in with a big hole in the knee of his jeans. According to Eldest, no one in the minibus noticed or 'had a go' at him as mum had thought.  (Blatentlie i never said anything of the sort) He MAY have thought it was a fashion statement originally, althought he denies it categorically, and he seemed to fully realise that having a huge chunk missing out of the knee of your jeans was not considered fashionable for a boy of his age.

Regarding the bit about the jeans i said to him look don't think you should wear them to school...He said but others have holes in jeans and ripped ones on...So i said okies whatever it's up to you...I have no idea what planet this woman is living on because you can BUY jeans already ripped to bits and pay anything between £10 and £150 for the pleasure...It is the height of fashion to wear ripped jeans just now...Stupid woman...I agree with the bit about appearance having to be just right with teenagers that is why he has his hair the way it is...The ONLY person who has a problem with it anywhere he goes is HER and one of the other teachers in the base...EVERYONE else has been complimentary about it...The guys at footie training, fun club, skiing, playscheme were ALL complimentay wether it was another kid or worker or parent...One of the male teachers even asked him where he had it done as he really liked it FFS...Want an idea of how it is just now then picture Charlie from Busted and that's my son...Pre blonde highlights was cut same way just dark brown...I will report her if she doesn't stop this nonsense...She is the one making him feel insecure about his appearance...She's there to get them to integrate into society and surely being fashion conscious is a GOOD sign and very positive...Ohhhhh i so wanted to slap her but luckily for her i was on other side of the room from her or i would have...Wish i'd worn a pair of ripped jeans to go in to meeting too PMSL...Don't have any as they too big LOL...Felt like saying also at least he isn't using so much hairspray on his hair it's stiff as a board like hers ROFL...Now this woman isn't that much older than me, maybe late 40's...I always wonder when she is having a pop at him about his hair/clothes what on earth she makes her 2 sons who are slightly older wear...I also pointed out when both her and future needs woman said they would like him to do more mainstream activities outwith school that i do have 2 other children to consider and i cannot be in 2 places at once and hey i do have a life too kinda...I already had to say to youngest he couldn't go tothe rugby training i found as was at same time as eldest lads skiing lessons...Fortunately after having gone to a sports morning try out he decided he didn't want to do rugby anymore...Actually when i read the above paragraph to both him and his sister they did laugh about the comment on the jeans...They even wanted to know what planet she lived on <G> ...Anyways rant over off to make a few phone calls...Toodle pip for now xx

Didn't do much yesterday went to the gym and then tidied up...Did have an evening meeting for support group was only me and one other member there then 2 new members turned up...We had a good chat though and these 2 new parents now know they are not on their own...Recently diagnosed but at high school and not coping with the vast change this brings...

Today i meant to go to gym but fell asleep after i had my brekkie DUH...Luckily i woke up in plenty time to go get my hair chopped :o)...Need to chuck some more red hair dye in it but will wait until tomorrow evening...Would have liked to do it tonight before meeting tomorrow morning but am going swimming tomorrow lunchtime so decided to wait...Would rather it didn't turn some obscure lurid colour from the chlorine <G>

Meeting tomorrow morning should be FUN she says with a good dose of sarcasm...It's eldest lads Future Needs review...Social worker will be there and she left a message on answer thingy this afternoon which was very positive :o) ...The head of the base is going to be the fun one NOT...She is still banging on and on and on about his hair...insert lots of cossable words here...His hair is TRENDY...It is cut so it is *messy* on top...She would like him to take a hairbrush to school with him!!!!...He does brush his hair every morning then puts his product stuff in it and messes up the top...He even uses his sisters hair straighteners on the back bits and to spike it up better...I really do wonder what century or planet this woman is living on...Okies picture in your head David Beckham (would prefer not myself lol) when his hair was longer at back, short over ears and messy spikey on top...That's eldest hair style...Hmmmm wonder if head of base watched the snooker final as Matthew Stevens hair is not disimilar apart from colour...I will tell her that if she continues to harass him about his hair and if she decides herself to use a hairbrush on it that i will take the matter to head of education dept...the whole point of the base which he attends is for them to mix in with the mainstream kids...Now him wanting to be trendy with his hair is surely a good thing...The way she wants him to have it is going to make him stand out like a sore thumb...As the school has no uniform policy or dress code then quite frankly she can get stuffed (scuse language)...My mum is 73 and although she doesprefer a more old fashioned hairstyle on a man she does think eldests is cool and trendy...Me and eldest have been ignoring any communication about this for a year now but now that she is demanding a hair brush, tried to get him have his hair cut IN school i will not tolerate this infringment on his choice...Can you tell am just a tad cheesed off with this all <G>...Shame i didn't still have named social worker that left last june as his hair was same LOL...I'm off to watch election now...toodle pip xx

grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

Just a quickie to vent some anger...Earlier tonight my ex phoned the kids...He phones about once every 6 weeks if he can be bothered :o( ...So daughter was telling him which uni she had decided upon and which course...She happened to mention she was filling in her student loan forms and only had parental income bit left to do...Quick as a flash my delightful ex said that doesn't apply to me i don't live in the country...GRRRRRRRRRR...I don't care if he is on loan form or not as she is better off without him being on it BUT i am angry at the implication he will have nothing to do with giving her any financial support at all...Not that he has since he emigrated anyway...Soon as he moved to america permanently my maintenance was stopped and he's still due me the rest of my divorce settlement...Been told that i can't chase him for it because america do NOT recognise UK court agreements <sigh>...Well he has one very hurt daughter here yet again :o(  Who has been on phone to 2 of her friends most of the evening and won't repeat what she has said about him to me...So lots of <cossable words> there then...Mind you i turned the air blue a bit myself when the boys and her weren't in the room with me...Just makes me so angry...He's asked for an up to date pic of them well he can get lost...I really don't approve of her swearing as such but she's 17 and has her own opinion of her father...I do try my best to make sure they keep in contact with him and have a reasonable opinion of him...It's hard though when he rarely phones and even then uses his work phone...Sends presents late and doesn't bother to pay anything towards them...Oh well one day it will all backfire on him and for that i feel rather sad for the eejit...Rant over...Toodle pip xx

Hehehe!!!

Oh i am so going to be shot for putting this in here but i have to...After all parents are supposed to embarass their teenagers aren't they <G>...Yesterday daughter went into town to meet a friend...Her friend was late and whilst she was waiting for her she spied a few labour people wandering around and chatting to people...Jack Mcconnell she said looked bored and went over to talk to her!!!...He recognised her from somwhere he said...Now my daughters opinion of him isn't very high...In fact her opinion of him is probably about down at the bottom of the nearest muddy bog LOL...She said yes he had met her before once and scottish youth parliament meeting and other time when young carers were down at scottish parliament and she spoke to him then LOL...So he then got his colleague over who is MSP for abdn central...Saying i have your equivalent here from the youth parliament LOL...He recognised her too but again didn't know where from...She told him local young carers group...He said oh yes so it is...So these guys who were supposed to be here campaigning for marginal seat in south abdn ended up talking to someone who is not old enough to vote yet as her birthday isn't until later in the year...She is highly embarassed and said it wasn't fair as she had to be nice & polite to Jack McConnell as they are still waiting for their funding for youth parliament...Speaking of the election when in city centre today there was quite a few rather attractive youngish men in black suits with yellow ribbons out on campaign trail...Have no idea who they were but if they had been for my area i might have been tempted to vote for them...Only because they were dishy looking <G>...Mind you wouldn't if they were tory not even if they looked like mel gibson or keanu reeves...So see i can be extremely shallow LOL...Also speaking of election i have not moved house for 18 years but i have now lived in 3 different parliamentry seats LOL...My side of street i live in used to be abdn south, the other side of street was abdn north, talk about living on the boundary LOL...Then abdn was divided into 3 and i became abdn central...Now it is back to 2 seats again and am in abdn north!!!...Safe labour seat though...

Was ever so good this morning...Once youngest left for school i went to the gym...I really need to make an appintment for induction to the weights type machines now...I like the treadmill!!!!, ilike rowing machine...The cross trainer thingy makes me feel seasick so i avoid using it...The cycling machine is hard on my knees just now so am also avoiding it...So today i did 20 mins on treadmill for first time ever that long and felt fine doing it...Then i went and did 30 lengths of the pool and then lounged in jacuzzi for 5 mins LOL...You know i always hated the idea of using a gym but decided to join this new one last august whilst cheap offer was on...I suppose i was quite sporty at school as i played for school hockey team, did volleyball and also swam for the school...Swimming i have always loved...I really love being in the water...Even done synchronised swimming in the past for a couple of years (don't laff it's incredibly tough to do)...I haven't tried scuba diving, rowing or sailing yet...Would like to have a go at scuba diving sometime but the other 2 think will give a miss...Windsurfing, water skiing and canoeing are fun...Would love to go white water rafting...Eldest lad has done that and really enjoyed it...

After gym i came home to drop off the car (15 mins to find a parking space <sigh>) and pick up daughter...We went into town and got a bag for her prom...Now it's home not so sure it matches her shoes...Got her a pretty necklace that matches earrings she already has...Just need a bracelet now and i think that is everything sorted for next tues...Oops no need to get hair appointment for her...She's grown it longish again so she can have it put up and we got a hair thingy that matches necklace and earrings...A friend of hers phoned last night to say she had been put beside a whole table of girls who don't like her for the meal at prom duh!!!...But he's got it changed so she's at same table as him and some other lads she's friends with...Her initital reaction to being told she was at other table was 'oh well at least i will be the prettiest one at the table' LOL...Got hydro electric coming round to change meter to a new one in morning so will phone social work whilst waiting then go to gym later in day...Better go make myself look busy now and make some tea...toodle pip xx

mayday customs

Last night when i was chatting on here i had a friend ask me if we had maypoles in scotland...Said not where i live that am aware of...I then said had anyone got up early to wash their face in the may dew...This got me some comments of i was not right and scotland had no running water LOL...Then one of my friends said jokingly she'd always visualised me and another scot from on here to be living in braveheart type huts and how disappointed she was when she saw all the houses...Tell you my friend who said that ain't all there <G>...So i told them that washing your face in the may dew is an old celtic custom from beltaine...To anyone reading this who hasn't heard of it if you wash your face in the may dew on 1st of may then you will be granted beauty and a fair complexion...Told friend this must be why i don't look my age <G>...Shame it didn't work on the beauty part LOL...Personally i think it's a far nicer custom than dancing around a pole wearing a daft costume looking a wee bit daft...

Been so lazy today...Set alarm and got daughter up early as she was going out...Went back to bed as boys both asleep and i had a headache...So i dozed in bed until i eventually decided i better get up at about 11.30am ISH...Boys were ok i know they had brekkie and were playing on their games consoles...More washing <sigh> got some hung out though because was sunny again today...Contemplated tackling the ironing mountain range but got sidetracked by dusting, cleaning and general tidy up of living room instead...I had finally got around to buying a new blusher brush for dusting my dragons with...It's easier using a soft brush than trying to get into all the nooks and crannys with a cloth...There was more dust on them that would like to admit too...Not because haven't been cleaning them because it took me so long to get a brush again...Have to dust regularly because of eldest lads asthma...I do need to find a new place to put my craft stuff...It's mounting up and needs a new home as i pinched the bit where i keep it all to move some dragons too...

Went to WW put on 2lbs <sigh> had an excuse which was valid so that was ok...Yeah i have been eating rubbish but also t.o.m. and always put on weight then...Eldest lad is off out swimming with his carer...Luckily i gave him a lift as pool they were going to was closed as tis a punlic holiday...So we drove along and spied carer and picked him up and took them to pool at beach...Seems a daft day to close to me as i would have though they would have lots of business on a bank holiday...It did give me an opportunity to ask carer if he would be able to take the boys out more often in summer hols...So need to phone head of disabilities team <grrrr> and ask him if possible to transfer funding to carer...They are funded for 2 days per week in holidays at respite playscheme...I got the dates for the summer hols in end of last week...They have been allocated 1 day each week...Before when this happened their carer was able to take them out extra days...That was when i still had a named SW though...Also my named SW was friends with their carer so basically they arranged stuff between them LOL...Head of team better do what i ask him to or i will be very angry and will tell him i will go over his head to his boss <G>...I would rather carer had extra time with them than respite playscheme they go to anyway...Their particular group is only in 1 day a week in hols and sometimes they end up in with a far less able group...Eldest gets very bored when this happens and youngest gets aggressive again...Anyway Toodle pip xx

tsk forgot

Forgot youngest seems to have recovered fine from being knocked out on fri for his teeth...He is telling everyone he comes in contact with which ones are gone now...He's also telling everyone about the evil torturers who did it to him ROFL...He's miffed he didn't get his teeth to take home <yuk>...Oh and this is now going to cost me £46...Why i hear you asking...Because i promised him a reward if he was good and let them do it...So i have to buy 2 tickets for Brian Mcfadden up here in june...£23 each and he can't go unaided so muggins here has to go too...Standing only left so he better cope with it and stay for the whole gig or i will not be a happy bunny...toodle pip xx

weekend musings

Today the boys were in day respite playscheme and am jealous LOL...Eldest lad didn't go out but youngest went to the cinema...To see Hitchhikers Guide to Galaxy...NOT FAIR i want to see it <sob> ...He said he liked it and it was very funny...His favourite in the movie was Marvin...What a surprise there lol...Marvin the paranoid android LOL...I have the books and i did like the tv series so i really want to see the movie...Alan Rickman to me is the perfect choice of marvin as his laid back dead pan sarcasm is marvin to a t...Oh well hopefully i will manage to get to see it during the day when they are in school...Spent today doing nothing as boys were out and it was teeming down with rain so really didn't want to go out anywhere...Watched the motogp in china and guess what it was teeming down with rain there too LOL...Rossi won again...I can see it turning into the Rossi show again this year bit like schumaker in the F1, although of course he's not on top form yet this season...Am now watching the snooker as am writing this...Very exciting last frame of the day...

Yesterday eldest lad started back skiing lessons again HURRAH!!!...I was beginning to think if it's left any longer then he'll have forgotton what to do...He hasn't <phew> different instructor this time though...Will wait and see what she is like as so far she seems a bit dippy...It was a glorious day with the sun shining and lovely and warm...Told him he wouldn't need his jacket on but he wore it regardless...Maybe just as well as he was soaking right through...Was nice to catch up with the other parents as only see them at skiing and they seem real nice people...Went into asda to see if they had anything to go with these skirts <grump> came out with some new vest tops because they were cheap and it was so damn warm...There's a laff as it's been cold and rainy today...Did tons of washing and got all hung out to dry cept for ski stuff...Now have more ironing <sigh>...See i want to win the lottery if only to be able to hire someone to come do my ironing for me...Preferably some handsome, youngish, ddg, naked bloke <G>...Think will leave this for now and go off and dream LOL...Toodle pip xx
