Birthday girl :o)

Well 19 years ago today i had one of the most painful but most wonderful days of my life...Little did i know when i woke up that morning that by afternoon i would be a mum...I didn't know i was pregnant and had always laughed when reading about unexpected babies arriving...I wasn't even overweight back then far from it...My stomach was flatter than flat and i had no signs of being pregnant...But that morning 19 years ago i woke up thinking i had a severe case of food poisoning...I phoned my work and said i wouldn't be in as i felt so yeuch...Someone who lived in the block back then heard me screaming and crying in agony and came in to see if i was alright...Lucky the door was unlocked...They phoned an ambulance...One arrived really quickly and i was checked over and one of the ambulancemen turned and said to the other one to get a chair and a blanket i was going to the maternity hospital...Between screams of pain i shouted 'why the matty am not preggers'...Got told you're in 2nd stage labour dear...I got to the hospital around 10am and K made her appearance at 11.05am...Being so far gone i could have no pain relief cept for gas & air and that made me feel so sick i chucked it away LOL...An hour later they decided to come and stitch me up as i wasn't in a good way LOL...After that i was still bleeding so heavily that i was re-examined and then came a procession of one higher up person to the next until eventually the senior gynaecologist came along with an anaesthetist...I was whisked off to theatre to be restitched <ouch> And awoke later near tea time with a normal drip in one arm and a blood transfusion going into the other one...Too much info but tough <gggg>

I had a baby yikes what do i do with a baby...But she was cute and gorgeous and i loved her to bits...The next day i was worried though as she seemed to be a wee bit yellow...Now my sis in law had had a baby the previous year and she was slightly jaundiced so i asked a nurse...Got told it was just the lighting hmmm okies what do i know i didn't even know i was preggers...I wasn't some young kid at the time either i was 24 LOL...Next morning the nurses decided i had to have a shower so dragged me off to help me...Came back and no baby...Docs had been round and whisked her off to put her under the white lights for jaundice...See i maybe didn't know i was preggers but i was right bout that...Well that night i actually fell asleep ok but as rudely awoken at 3am by a nurse saying my baby (no name at this point) was being taken upstairs and did i want to come...Mumbled something like i'll go in the morning...Fair enough but when another nurse woke me at 3.15am and started asking next of kin etc i got a huge fright...I may not have known i was having her but i didn't want to lose my baby...Upstairs back then was where the special nursery was...She was so badly jaundiced they were putting her under the stronger blue lights and back then that meant going into the special nursery...The docs up there had a very long serious chat with me and they had to check K's blood type...If her bilirubin count wasn't down to an acceptable level in 3 hours time then she was going to have to get a complete transfusion...Needless to say i didn't sleep again that day...It did come down but she had to get antibiotics...This was via a tap thing in her wrist...They put special eye patches on them and she just looked like she was on a sunbed and had a lovely tan...She stayed there for five days and back then you didn't get a room on your own if you were babyless :o( ...But my darling K is a fighter through and through...On the thurs evening she started moving up the enclosed cot she was in and started tapping on the end...She also pulled out the splint with the tap on it LOL...Another was put back in but when they checked her on the fri morning she'd done it again...She came back to me on the sat and we got out on the sun...We went up to my mums for a bit to stay and my mum and sisters had rallied round and got baby stuff for me :o) ...I know K reads my blog but she has heard this story plenty of times before as i didn't keep it secret...So HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING...I love you to bits and you were the most wonderful surprise i have ever had in my life :o) You have grown up to be a very pretty, intelligent, caring and wonderful young woman and me and your brothers love you to bits and we do miss you loads

I had M's annual review meeting early this morning after a rather hectic night...It went really well but i will leave speaking about it until tomorrow...I ended up babysitting for my best friend last night after my 2 were in bed...Her partner (the eejit) had accidently cut 2 of his fingers so she needed to rush him up to A&E...They didn't get back till really late and it was after 3am when i got home...They were told to come back today to the plastic surgery ward at 8.30 for a specialist to have a look...Well he's been operated on and has to stay in for 3-4 days...I reckon it's me and this time of year that makes daft things happen to people you know...Oh just before i go i am so excited...I need to be on the phone pronto at noon on fri to buy tickets to see The Killers...They're playing up here in feb!!!!...No-one huge plays gigs up here!!!!...It's just like not done at all...I so want to see them and i hope i manage to get through and get a ticket LOL

The saga continued

I phoned M's SEN school first thing as soon as he left for school...I got my pal who works in the office there and she was horrified...Also she wondered why they hadn't phoned her earlier yesterday so she said she'd find out what had gone on before i went off on one to transport...So it turns out that the taxi DID arrive to pick him up but because the driver (new) couldn't see M he drove off again...Now M isn't quite at the stage where he can go out into the car park at that school and just hop into his taxi...It's still all far to new to him for just now...So my poor lad had sat where he usually does and waited and waited patiently and more than likely screaming inside...Where he sits to wait is not visible by the school office...Someone from the office noticed him sat there at 3.40 and they went and phoned the taxi firm who said they would send a taxi immediately...That's why they didn't phone down to his SEN school which is fair enuff...But that taxi didn't turn up at all...As M was still sat in same place he wasn't seen still there...Another receptionist spotted him at the back of 4 and reason she phoned me was because M had by that time got it into his head that i was picking him up...The previous receptionist had left at 4 but via a different door so hadn't seen him still waiting...His SEN school have reported this debacle to transport and both the taxi firm and his mainstream school are being told off...The mainstream school should have had someone make sure he got the taxi okies but that is just minor...The taxi firm are going to be getting a good kick up the rear end...Oh and no-one from either the taxi firm or the mainstream school told his SEN school or transport...There's been a real breakdown in communication somewhere along the line yesterday which is rather ironic considering autism is a communication disorder and M wasn't to blame...I have his review on tues so i will make sure that there has been some strategy put in place to prevent this happening again

He has a *date* tonite LOL...Muggins has been told that we are picking up his g/f at 5pm to take them to the bowling alley then burger king...What am going to do for an hourISH i don't know...Probs end up in asda spending money i don't have ROFL...Mind you i want to see if it was there that i saw plain glass knik-knak/jewellery boxes...I want to glass paint one for each of my younger sisters 2 girls for their christmas...I have no idea what to get their brother...If i can still find them then am going to ask little sis if he has a saltire beach towel...If he doesn't then i might get him that to use for when he goes swimming...Or ask if he needs anything for his footie training...Here's me talking about christmas pressies and i still have no idea what am going to give K for her birthday on tues...We're going down next weekend to see her as she's away at a meeting this weekend...Might give her money to go and get her hair cut and styled and the boys can think of something...Well G gets his own EMA money now so am trying to get him responsible to buying small pressies himself instead of me paying for them...I still have a bit of a headache and sicky feeling but hopefully that will be gone by tomorrow...Usually it's a couple of days it lasts and apart from being on phone for most of this morning i have spent it all either in bed or on sofa asleep LOL

just a quickie

Quickie entry...Am NOT a happy bunny tonite at all...Wear some earplugs tomorrow morning or stay asleep LOL...Am gonna be on phone to transport dept first thing reading them the RIOT ACT grrrrr...Got a call from G's base at 4pm saying he was gonna be late as his taxi had been late due to a mix up...Erm the taxi FORGOT to pick up the escort...Said that's ok i wasn't worried yet but i was about M cos he wasn't home...During the call it clicked that it was thurs LOL...I'd had migraine all day so can be forgiven for being bit woozy :oP ...On a thurs M goes to mainstream school for maths...His maths lesson is last period so he gets taxied home direct from the mainstream school...Well i had just put phone down from that call when it rang again...Was a receptionist from M's mainstream school asking who was supposed to pick him up...Erm taxi firm i said...Oh he's still sat here i got told...Now that school FINISHES at 3.15...So he'd been sat there for 50 mins at that point...So she hun up and phoned taxi firm and called me back...They'd FORGOTTON!!!!!! so were sending out a car...I mean FFS that lesson is from 2.30 -3.15...The taxi did remember to take him there...Like DUH!!!!!...At least someone had stayed with him because if he had been left on his own outside the school waiting for a non existant taxi then it doesn't bear thinking what could have happened...He was mega subdued when he got home and has hardly spoken all nite :o(  Okies that makes a nice change but nicer reason would be better...So phone call to his SEN school to inform them...Then a call to transport to read riot act about both things happening but more so about one of the firms they employ leaving a vulnerable, autistic 15 year old abandonded at a school...Just before i go he got his result from the maths test he did before the hols and he got 18 out of 30 which is brill for M and is a pass :o) Just hope today doesn't put him off wanting to go back there :o(

mondays

Well i did manage to waken at silly o'clock this morning and although neither me nor the escort was sure what time G would be picked up am glad we played safe...Taxi arrived at 7.20am...The temp firm have now got the contract permanent until next round is up for grabs again...It's still far too early for them being picked up for school but ce la vie...So what did i do...Did i do more decorating??? Nopes...Did i sort out the boys beds and put them into different rooms??? Nopes...After M left for school i sat down to have brekkie and a coffee and promptly fell asleep...ARGHHHH...Woke up at midday so nowt got done...By that time i had to go to the bank and the police station so didn't have time and i really wanted the boys bunks dismantled and sorted into throwing half out and having top bunk as a single bed for M.

So why the police station...Well some expletive deleted decided to write their name in black permanent marker on back of my car...It wasn't there on sat at tea time but it was there yesterday evening...Obviously there's not a lot the police can do but it's on record as yet another piece of vandalism in the area recently...Went to my garage on way home and it came off easily with thinners...A week n half ago 19 cars were badly vandalised on main street at end of mine :o( ...Lucky for me mine was parked round there that night but one of my neighbours was and his is pretty badly damaged...This morning one of the boards on wall of corner shop for newspaper headlines was half hanging off as someone had tried to pull it off the wall...WHY??? They did get who vandalised all the cars but it's getting really bad around here...Lovely policeman said this area has been targetted a lot lately...That must be why there are more police cars patrolling this area now, especially in the evenings.

Oh and do please ignore my delightful daughter calling me Mummykins...She does it to wind me up cos she knows i don't like it...And K hunny i know you read my journal i just thought you had no internet at the house yet so ner ner...It's not just been the boys being off school that has made for the lack of entries here...I was working on another project which i can't talk about but am rather pleased with it and chuffed that it has worked out well :o) No footie tonite as aberdeenshire are still on hols...Tues club is back tomorrow and triple A club is back to evenings on wed...M has a date on fri hmmm...his ex girlfriend came round yesterday and they're now going back out again...Not happy but hey ho, i don't want him hurt again as she dumped him a year n half ago...Mind you it's more a friendship thing really so suppose...She's older though and has money of her own now and M doesn't till after he's 16 and no way am i paying for dates galore.

birthday girl (mum) and other bits

Oh dear am getting bad at keeping up with entries here...My excuse is it's school hols and roll on monday when they go back <ggg> ...Stopped the decorating until they are back because it's impossible with them wanting to watch sky channels through here...So week in view time again

On monday G went to one of his mates so was out of my hair for a while...Tues they both went to respite playscheme and in afternoon M went to the curling...G didn't want to go which is fair enough...The coach is going to try and get a 6 week block organised which M is happy about...To be honest the others doing it are far less capable than G and in a way it's good he doesn't want to carry it on...On thurs they went to the triple A club and they had a talk on friendship from some counsellor or other and did drawing skills...They're getting really narky now and 2 weeks is too long for hols IMO

K was out with her boyfriend last weekend celebrating their 1st anniversary of being an item...AWWWWWWW...He took her out for a meal to a restaurant near his flat and wouldn't let her pay anything or see the bill...On the sunday they went bowling, cinema and pizza and i think she got to pay her share of that...Told her look make the most of it because if they're still together in a few years time chances are he won't be the same...Okies before any blokes turn on me, eg: stuart, i know NOT all men are unromantic and innatentive to their partners...My younger sis's hubby is still an old romantic at heart and K always wanted to find herself a man like him and i think she has...She's also gone and registered with a new GP where she is staying now...She had to get a medical from the nurse when she registered and they think she is borderline asthmatic...So she has a peak flow meter to do twice a week for next fortnite and ventolin to take...Well i reckon that this could be a huge step forward into explaining the blackouts and mega dizzy turns...G has asthma but he doesn't get really wheezy unless he has been really excerting himself at sports...He has what they call Silent asthma...He gets really dizzy to point where he is sometimes on verge of passing out...It took me over 2 years to get it through to the school base that when he says he is dizzy and he is very pale and tired looking that he needs to take his puffer as that is his asthma...I know this sounds a bit horrid but if she does have asthma and it's same as G's i will be happy...Because if that is why she is having the *turns* then it can be fixed so so easily...She'll just have to remember to ALWAYS carry the medication with her...I've looked it up online which is something i don't usually do...I have been with things for explanation to K's probs though...Silent asthma can cause cardiac arrhythmia for brief periods and can also play havok with blood pressure...Her BP was high hence this checking for asthma...On a good note she is really enjoying her course :o) Don't wanna say to her 'told you so' but i will be at some point cos i can't help it.

Yesterday we went up north as it was mums birthday...Mum really wasn't looking forward to it but she did have a lovely day...My younger sis organised a buffet meal at her new house and me, the boys, older sis and her daughter and daughter in law and of course younger sis's family were all there...Poor ickle sis's hubby though, the boys stood back to back with him and are now at least an inch taller than him...He's 5'11" and felt a tad short...Their new house that they have built is gorgeous...Still got a way to go to finish it like...Youngest neice has a 4 poster double bed and a chandelier in her bedroom LOL...Nothing like a bit of decadence and i told her am jealous cos i love her room...Her older sis isn't quite so opulent...Well the 4 poster and chandelier aren't actually OTT but very tasteful and not OTT girlie...Poor nephew he is making do with the girls old bunk beds and drawers, bedside cabinet so he's a bit miffed...But he's got all new scottish saltire bedding etc and it looks cool...I love sis's huge walk in wardrobe area...I have a walkin wardrobe but it's nowt like hers...Mind you i'd probs fill it with all my craft stuff cos i don't have much in way of clothes LOL...Mum loved all her pressies...We gave her a couple of 2½ feet tall glass vases with dried grasses and ocra in them...I placed one each side of her fireplace and mum thought they look good there...She got clothes and jewellery but one thing she loved and kept looking at whens he though we weren't watching was a brooch from my older sis...Now mum has always really disliked the colour blue...I mean really really dislikes...Sis got her a brooch with a bluebird on it...Bluebird was the name of my grandad (mums dad) fishing trawler...Mum really was overwhelmed with that gift...They had also ordered a birthday cake for her from a local bakers and ordered one just a tad too big LOL...Was like a hat as mum does like wearing her hats :o)  We didn't leave till 10pm and we're lucky we made it home in once piece to be honest...There was thick fog and lashing rain at same time for a good third of the journey...I did skid a few times across the road slightly :o(  Very very scary and luckily not much traffic about and defo something i never want to repeat.

am watching X factor and a bit shocked at the 2 acts in bottom two this week...Well i am shocked that the macdonald brothers weren't in bottom two as they were by far the worst act tonight...Oh well result just been announced and louis is now down to only 2 acts...Thought it would be that way but not the group who left...Am scottish but please could all the scots out there STOP voting for the macdonalds...It's good to back someone from your own country but NOT when they are that bad...Just want to say thank you to Jan as she got this tag made for me and it is absolutely gorgeous :o)

hopeless

Well it's been a slow week really...On tuesday i started to hang the wallpaper...Never having done this before i found it very tiring actually...I've done one wall and one alcove so far LOL...I had intended on doing another on wed and another on thurs and by today i had hoped to be finished...Well so much for that LOL...I do want to paint the walls once finished but for now i really can't be bothered...On the wall that i have papered i have put up 3 small shelves and on them i have put my crystal figures...Also i've hung up photographs of my younger sisters 3 children...My older sisters daughters graduation photo...The one of M from his school show last christmas...A photo of my 3 from my eldest nephews wedding 2 years ago and one of them when K was bridesmaid to her uncle...Also in pride of place is one of my dad taken in florida back in 1979 before he fell ill 2 months later...It's the last photo of him before he became ill and died 8 years later...In the alcove i have hung up silver wallpaper...I was thinking of putting the silver paper all across that wall ie: both alcoves and the chimney breast...Today though am thinking of only doing the alcoves in the silver...M wanted the walls all painted pale lilac like the ceiling...But am thinkinh chimney breast in the lilac and the other 3 walls in a paler version of the colour on the woodwork...It's a teal kinda colour which i really like...Having paler version of the will make the room less girlie and as you all know i don't go girlie LOL...Like i said i wanted it all finished except the painting by today but i didn't know that hanging wallpaper was going to give me a splitting headache and tire me out so much...This was all supposed to get done LAST SUMMER...but of course i ended up with severe pain all last summer and the emergency op on gall bladder...Then i meant to get it done at beginning of this year but had the mini breakdown in march...I would be doing the other 2 walls just now but the boys are watching star trek voyager on skyone so no can do...Promise it will be finished by next weekend.

So on tuesday the boys went to respite but only until 1.30pm...I did some wallpapering and then my best friend turned up after getting her hair done to cheer herself up a bit...I asked her if she wanted to come with us to watch the boys do the curling but she needed to go home to rest...Picked the boys up and took them up to the curling rink...Dropped them their and went to B&Q for the silver paper...When i got back G was not impressed...They all had to use a curling cue and he wasn't happy about that...Back at easter he hadn't used one at all and wanted to show the bloke teaching them what he could do...So this tues coming he is being allowed not to use a cue...The curling cue is a bit like a snooker cue with one main difference...On the end instead of a tip there is a metal bit that goes over the handle on the curling stone...So you place the cue over there and push the stone and the cue just slides off...M seems more interested in carrying this on than G does although G has enjoyed it...Will see what happens after the hols...On thurs they went to their other club from 11-3...They ended up going to the cinema to see a film called Click...I've no idea what it is about and haven't heard of it but they said it was ok...Next week they have respite, curling and should have triple A club again...Anyways going to see if they will let me look at whats on telly for the next few hours see if i can do some more papering...What i really need is some nice, youngish, single DDG man to come do my decoarting for me...Anyone know of one going free to a good home <gggg>

Part deux

So on to part 2 of catch up LOL

Last week M was off school on mon, tues and wed...I had parents nite for him at his SEN school...It was also parents nite at his mainstream school which i didn't know about...When i dropped G off at the tues fun club another parent told me and asked if i was going to see the maths teacher...M the cheeky wee monkey that he is had told his maths teacher i wouldn't need to see her LOL...Parents nite at SEN school was good...M told his music teacher he had a touch of flu ROFL...Yeah man flu as we both said...He was not impressed with us saying that...To be honest M rarely gets poorly and his blocked up nose and watery eyes probs did make him feel like he was at deaths door <bless> ...So music this year he will be doing the listening part of the SQA access 2 level...Once he has it then he will have the whole cluster...She said he does try all the instruments and copes with them all well but drums are his forte...Hmmm wonder if the neighbours would appreciate me getting him a drum kit <ggg> Music teacher has him playing rock rhythms now and after these hols is going to start him on blues...Last fri i had his annual medical and it went okies cept for his weight...So school GP (who i don't like or trust) is refering him to a specialist at hossy...Will believe that when i see it...for those who haven't read this blog right from the start she is the main reason i started the blog

G got his hair dyed and cut again...He decided when at hairdressers to get it chopped LOL...That has pleased the base no end...He's happy with it which is main thing...He doesn't care what anyone else thinks which is exactly how it should be for a 16 year old teenager <ggg> ...Do wish he would shave off the bum fluff on his chin like...He's now started helping one lesson a week as a classroom assistant for a 1st year technological studies class :o) ...I jokingly said to him last tues did any of them call him sir...Well if looks could kill i'd be 6 feet under...One of them did and he politely told them not to call him that <bless> ...On thurs it was G's annual medical but with one slight problem...He wasn't there for the time it was at...He was over at the other school still in class...So the school gp (i like his one) said they'd fit him in an hour later...She did say i didn't have to come back but it was okies as i was going to asda next door anyway...So once he was there when they did his height i had to laff...He'd lost an inch since being in hossy over the summer LOL...He also weighed about 2 stone more than she thought he would from his build...Heavy boned she said cos he is like a rake...On fri he had a sponsored walk that they do biannually at his school...20 kms they walked along old railway line to a town up the coast...He was shattered and still is LOL...They always do it the last fri before oct hols probs to give them a chance to recover for school LOL...He also had his check up at hossy about his nose and it's fine...Of course that won't prevent his allergy to whatever sets of the rhinititis but at least now the nasal sprays can get in to work

As for me well i have bought a groovy anagylpta wallpaper...I've bought the paste and the tools i just need to hang it on the walls...Then paint it at some point...I also bought a shelving unit for the alcove that the computer table isn't in...It was half price in homebase then i got 10% off as it was 10% off everything day...Today at tea time on whim i went and bought a new tv unit to put in front of it LOL...The old one the boys took down to the street bins, am so cruel as it was heavy...I had my check up about my anti depressats with my gp last tues...So far these i have had no bad reaction to so fingers crossed...I also mentioned my feet being covered in dry skin and teensy blisters...Now this has appeared every summer for last 3 summers...My skin is dry anyway and i didn't really think much about it cept it got mega itchy when the blisters appeared...Well it's a specific type of excema so i have cream for it...So far it's not making much difference cept no new blisters or itching...Oh well am falling apart who cares <ggg> And that folks is all for tonite and i promise i will be back to updating regularly and actually reading and commenting elsewhere

Toodle pip tc xx

am alive HONEST

Just got sent that one in email from a friend and i couldn't resist putting it on here <ggg>

Well i do apologise for the lack of entries over the last couple of weeks...It's been one thing after another and i have barely had time to read everyones entries, let alone leave a comment or do an entry myself...So where to start as a catch up...Well i will start with here and now and work backwards just to confuse everyone <ggg> ...It's 2 weeks of oct hols up here ARRGGHHHH...See last entry i did they were on a long weekend break and now off for another 2 weeks...Oh well they have respite tomorrow but not going for whole day as they are going to curling for an hour in the afternoon...Remember they tried that at easter and enjoyed it...Well this is a special needs curling session and is on again next tues as well...All the sports stuff on over holidays is free by the council via the big lottery fund :o) ...If they really enjoy it again then will have to see if they can fit in a curling club along with all the other things they do...ARGGHHH more chauffeuring <sigh> ...This thurs they are going to their wed night club for 4 hours during the day...WAHAY a break LOL...Next fri we will go up north to visit everyone and it's mums birthday and i ain't got a clue what to buy her...She's got everything she needs as it is...She also doesn't want her birthday to happen :o( ...She will be the same age as her mum was when she died and also the same age as her brother was when he died last year :o( ...I have one idea and it will be part birthday, part christmas pressie.

K did get moved into the house last weekend :o) ...Well she moved in on the wed and we took her stuff down from here on the sat and came home on the sun...Nice house and tres posh for students as they have a dishwasher LOL...She also had her first week at uni proper last week and is really enjoying this course...Had to laff on wed nite when she phoned...They had a lecture on the sociology of using public loos <ggg> ...She has mondays off and none of her lectures last beyond 3pm...Oh and am owe her £16 cos she bought me a dragon in a sale LOL...Said why didn't she keep it for my christmas pressie...She said it's not pretty enuff to be a pressie LOL...No mention of me giving her money to tide her over till her student loan and bursary came through LOL...I don't mind really, it's another to add to the collection and it's one that is being no longer made after the end of this year.

There is so much to catch up on that am gonna do 2 entries...My younger sis and her hubby have been building a new house for the last year...Well they moved in last sunday but no-one told me duh!!!!...No wonder i couldn't get them on the phone...Their phone is supposed to connected today with the same number...Am really looking forward to visiting them in their new place and finally getting to see upstairs...The staircase was one of the last things they put in...Me being severely acrophobic wouldn't climb the ladder up there for a looksy LOL...My best friend had her gall bladder out last mon and thank goodness her parents have her two toddlers to stay with them down in hamilton just now...Put it this way if i wrote what i wanted to about my friends partner then i would have to Notify myself to COS...He took the week off work to look after her...So he said HAHAHAHA!!!!...He's done SOD ALL...He even wanted her to cook for them both, do the food shop, tidy up, do the washing/ironing etc etc etc etc...In fact she had to wash some dishes last tues so she could have a clean plate...He went nuts at her on the wed because she hadn't washed the cutlery :o(  Her mum is coming up next week for a few days and to be honest i want to phone her and tell her how that <deleted> has been...Still debating whether to or not because i know my pal go nuts at me but i do feel her mum needs to know...Okies am a tad biased i've never really liked him...But he is abusive mentally all the time...My friend is not the same happy go lucky, fun, bubbly person she used to be and her mum knows he's been a <deleted> in the past...Am gonna go round on thurs and clean her house up for her cos no way she should be doing it and it needs tidying before her wee ones are back on thurs nite...Anyways gonna finish here and go do another entry to catch up with LOL
